Sunflower Farm Creamery

Nigerian Dwarf Dairy

Welcome to Sunflower Farm - where all the romance of farm life is still very much a reality. Looking for delicious local cheese made in small daily batches? You have come to the right place. Depending on the time of year, our feta, chevre, caramels, fudge and cajeta is available at Eventide Specialties in Boothbay Harbor & Walnut Hill Market in N. Yarmouth. You may also come directly to the farm Fri-Sun 10-6 to enjoy products the self serve fridge and to watch the goats grazing in the field.

We giggle when folks visiting ask us if all the goats have names. Not only do they all have names, they all have distinct calls we know even from the kitchen, they each have preferences for their favorite treats, and places they most love to be scratched. In the milkroom each mama has their own approach to our time together: Matilda likes to be milked without her head closed in to the head gate. GoGo insists that she be milked one side at a time. After Rosemary is milked, she waits on the milk stand for a few minutes of love before she is ready to hop down and go about her day.

There are lots of hot words in the sustainable food movement. Some mean very different things depending on who is using them and for what purpose, but for us, “local” dairy products are unique because each bite is intimately connected to the way the animals at our farm live. Even a town over, the goats are eating different grass, enjoying a different breeze, their milk is not from Stella and May and Sonnet. We find great joy in sharing our lovely goat herd with visitors so that when they eat our chèvre or feta or caramels, they taste even better because they are remembering a sunny summer day in the field with our herd. Hopefully you can taste the love.

Ready to enjoy the kind of day you dream about as a busy woman?
We’ve got just the ticket.
Treat yourself to a one of a kind day of creative workshops at Sunflower Farm. The perfect way to set the tone for a memorable summer!

June 9th, 2018  • 10-4:30 •$175 includes all workshops, a delightful lunch and treats to bring home.
Take the day to rediscover balance, reconnect to your roots, recharge your soul, reflect on new possibilities.

We will all gather together for a gentle Vinyasa Yoga class in the morning, meet up again midday for a delicious healthy lunch and will connect as a large group again at the end of the day for a brief meditation to let all the day’s goodness settle.

In between, groups of 10-15 women will rotate through workshops designed to tap into your most playful, reflective self! If you are coming with friends, make sure to let us know when you register and we will make sure you spend the whole day together.

We are so excited to make every part of the day the best it can be, but please know, it is YOUR day. If you decide to skip out on any or all of it and sit in the sun and and take goat selfies, you can do exactly that. (We are closing the farm to visitors so you will have it all to yourself that Saturday!)

Hang with a herd of goats, make something creative,
cook delicious food,
practice yoga in the field,
take time to write,
and enjoy a shared picnic lunch.

Press the pause button on life’s
busy routine...leave feeling grounded.
-Hope, Heidi, Alex & Amy

Please Note: In the case of a seriously bad weather, our rain date will be Saturday June 16th.
